Birding since the late 1980s...mid 40s birder. Being out in nature and hearing the morning chorus, seeing how birds interact with their surroundings and go about their lives provides me a greater understanding of the natural environment we live in. With bird photography, every photo is different, which makes seeing the same and different species exciting.

A different setting for this shot of a Bald Eagle. A bit of luck in the early morning, as there was a lot of cloud around. We were able to stop the car just in time when we saw an eagle flying towards us, get out, adjust and manage probably my favourite shot of the weekend. The sun was below wing level, which caused a shadow above instead the usual opposite lighting.

There have been over 50 Hooded Merganser uploads on BV, however one can't tire of seeing this bird. He juggled a crustacean for some time before engulfing it whole. North Saanich, BC.
