nest
This is the nest site of a White-tailed Ptarmigan, found completely by chance when we stumbled upon an adult "clucking". There is a chick in the nest. Seen at Rocky Mountain National Park.

The White-tailed Ptarmigan was extremely hard to find. We were lucky to stumble across this one that was making noise because a nest was nearby - otherwise we never would have seen it.

Again from Monte Verde, if I hadn't seen it with my own eyes, I would have said a nice stuffed toy. In this pose more of his long tail is visible and the hint of blue in some parts.

Onthe grounds of the hotel El Establo in Monteverde there was a particular tree on top of a long hill where the Quetzal could be seen. This was in the rain forest and under the canopy gloom, focusing was difficult for the camera. Note that in direct sun the bird at times appeared to be blue rather than green. Doesn't look real !

There were a few of these wrens at the Punta Leona complex. Often near the food courts.
