A common winter visitor to southwestern Ontario, Slate-colored Juncos are always moving around in big flocks, and it is not always easy to get one resting for so long as to take a good picture!
St. Isidore - I found this bird today feeding along a roadside near a forest with a flock of "regular" Juncos. This "Oregon" type individual is a western subspecies which is rare in the east. I hadn't seen one for decades. This is an adult male.
Reifel Bird Sanctuary, Delta BC
A morning off work yielded perfect shooting conditions and plenty of winter birds at Reifel. This is the best shot of the day.
