St. Isidore - with water levels still high on lakes, rivers and sewage ponds and field flooding now receding, finding shorebirds has become very challenging. We got lucky with about 60 dunlins along the shore of one pond.

A bit unusual plumage, but the length of the beak could only be Dunlin. Slightly bigger than the Western Sandpipers in the same area.

A nice Dunlin in breeding plumage. The nice thing in Iceland in summer is that there is light for 24 hours, even though in part of the "night" it gets a little darker. This picture was taken very late in the evening!

Boundary Bay, Delta BC
There were estimates of 10,000 Dunlin, 5,000 Western Sandpipers, and 2,000 Black-bellied Plovers on Boundary Bay around this time.
