BrianMorin: This little guy was one of the first flycatchers back this spring. Thankfully it is small enough that it can usually be distinguished from others in the family, even when it is not calling.

Details: adult, summer plummage, outside normal range

Erieau - The occasional individual deviates from its western flight path that would normally take it to South Dakota or even southern Alberta. I made two attempts at photographing this individual and on the second day it was much closer, offering excellent views. The breeding plumage is stunning, right down to the ruby-red eye. I've waited a long time for this bird.

Details: male, adult

Point Pelee National Park - This bird was ridiculously easy to photograph. It hung around a very small area and regularly grabbed onto the bark of tree trunks to pick off insects, much like a nuthatch.
