St. Isidore - More luck with these beauties today.

Cornwall - This second adult Thayer's Gull has less head marking than the other bird. Some Thayer's Gulls have dark eyes but others are light. Both of these birds had eye colour similar to Herring Gulls. CORRECTION: After careful consideration and review by an experienced gull watcher this may be a hybrid Thayer's Gull and Kumlien's Iceland Gull.

adult, winter plummage
Cornwall - This bird was a pleasant surprise. You can clearly see the smaller size compared with the adjacent Herring Gulls.

Ingleside - I worked with this bird for 30 minutes and by the end I could approach fairly closely in the car. The sun came out for a very brief time giving me some nice light for my subject.

Ottawa - this bird has been present for a few weeks. I managed to catch it while it was preening before it swam off to feed.

female, adult
Ottawa - I watched a pair for about 20 minutes. They were very high and almost always in shadow or behind branches. The female briefly showed enough for a few shots including this one with a moth she dug out from behind some bark.

Massena -I was keeping a watchful eye out for this species today and spotted one not too far from the road and only up about 10 feet.

Ingleside - It begins again. This is my first Snowy of the winter, not one of the few individuals that summered in Ontario. No idea if it will stick around or is heading further south. Others to follow soon we hope.
