Birding since the late 1980s...mid 40s birder. Being out in nature and hearing the morning chorus, seeing how birds interact with their surroundings and go about their lives provides me a greater understanding of the natural environment we live in. With bird photography, every photo is different, which makes seeing the same and different species exciting.

Snow Buntings making several passes overhead at Baie du Febvre, Quebec. We also saw several other 'winter' species such as Bohemian Waxwing, Rough-legged Hawk and Horned Lark in the area.

After 30 years of birdwatching, my first sighting of a Black-backed Woodpecker. I thought it was a Hairy flying in, but the call was quite different. Seen at the Calvaire d'Oka provincial park.

The Hermit Thrush was calling it's typical upslurred Catbird-like call. Another field mark was the slightly rufous tail. Seen at Oka Provincial Park.
