In the vicinity of the harbour in Seattle there is a restaurant where you are actually required to feed the gulls! And they take advantage of that, of course!

This young Glaucous-winged Gull probably bit off more than he could chew... it needed quite a while to swallow that starfish!

Coastal crows in the West are difficult to assign to a species... but I've been told that the ones in Seattle are still American, so I'll go with it!

I thought that Heermann's Gulls would be only common further south, so what a surprise to find so many at Ocean Shores (WA)!

Djoudj NP is also a quite important spot for flamingos.

These ducks can form large flocks and are quite impressive when they all fly off together, for example when a predator approaches.

The Purple Heron is a quite discrete heron and is often found around reedbeds.

This species has a huge crest that they can erect when nervous. They look quite punk when they do!

I think this is a male because of the bulged forehead. Probably they get this when breeding season is approaching.
