Birding since the late 1980s...mid 40s birder. Being out in nature and hearing the morning chorus, seeing how birds interact with their surroundings and go about their lives provides me a greater understanding of the natural environment we live in. With bird photography, every photo is different, which makes seeing the same and different species exciting.

Somebody walking by the Boundary Bay Dyke decided to leave some seeds on a stump. It was special to see 4 species of Sparrows amongst other birds in such close quarters.

This species is funny to watch. He sticks out like a sore thumb, but is quite shy and often just sits for awhile watching other birds feed. Delta, BC

Generally these 2 species don't get along very well. They managed to get on the same feeder for a moment. Delta, BC

The luckiest birding moment of 2021 without a doubt. Mother and father crane had just caught a vole, and fed the young crane in front of us. The Reifel Bird Sanctuary biologist had to keep all visitors back as this spectacle unfolded.
