Constance Bay (Ottawa) - Regionally rare. I saw an adult only briefly but a juvenile came in a few times. The birds nested nearby.

Chris: You managed to get the red colour well. I have trouble with saturation
Brian Morin: I find that red is the hardest colour to properly represent with digital cameras.

Chris: Reminds me of Florida 😊
Brian Morin: They were part of a flock of 40+; great to see. One morning after I had left there was a flock of 400+ on the Tip at Pelee. That is highly unusual.

Shrewsbury - A pair of Magpies were building a nest in the cedars. They are well out of range, with the closest territory near the Manitoba border, about 1200 km northwest. Last year a pair, likely the same birds, bred 90 km further east.

Chris: Another with stunning light
Brian Morin: A pretty bird with early morning light. The colour looks very different on a dull day so I'm glad the light was in my favour.

Sue Bishop: Great find and capture, Brian.
Brian Morin: There are not many locations where they are present so it was nice to have one cooperate for a photo.

Murphys Point Provincial Park - Much farther east and north of the normal breeding range. This is certainly the same bird that was present singing for weeks at the exact same location last June. The song is unique and the plumage is greener than similar looking flycatchers like Willow and Alder.
