Sue Bishop: Great find and capture,Brian!
Brian Morin: I got lucky on this one because the bird had been at a distance in a restricted area but at one point it wandered close by for a great profile shot. The setting was a bonus completing the picture.

Sue Bishop: Gorgeous! Great find!!
Brian Morin: I had heard a couple of birds in the previous weeks but didn't have any shooting opportunities until this day. It cooperated as well as I could have hoped for.

They have a nest nearby on a rock face. The female is noticeably larger than the male and this particular female is larger than others I've seen so she's at least 1/3 larger.

Details: male, adult, outside normal range

Long Sault - This bird has been present for over three weeks.

Date uploaded: Jun 4 2024

Comments (3):
Sue Bishop: Great closeup, Brian!
Brian Morin: This bird has been very challenging to photograph, typical of Orchard Orioles I have worked with. They may appear in an exposed location but more often will be within branches under cover, singing away. They are fond of calling from evergreens, which offer excellent cover.

Gatineau

Date uploaded: Jun 3 2024

Comments (3):
Ahmad Shah: That is one amazing capture.
Brian Morin: And in decent light too. This female is active earlier than usual because she has a full house to feed, 6 full grown chicks that are still largely down covered but with wing feathers developing enough so they can move from tree to tree.

Hooded Warbler (19)

Wilsonia citrina

Canada (Ontario)

📍 Map

Date taken: May 8 2024

Details: male, adult

Point Pelee National Park

Date uploaded: May 17 2024

Comments (5):
Chris: Stunning photo of an equally stunning species
Brian Morin: The Hooded is one of the warblers we hope to find on trips south in the spring. It was a tough task this year as there were few reports in the park and the birds tended to stay out of sight. On top of that, the light was very bad when this individual was spotted, mainly backlight. I managed to get a couple of opportunities to capture the moment.
