This bird was photographed at Crocodile island just outside Luxor. This is an excellent birding spot besides an awesome cultural experience!

This species is the most widespread Corvid in the Sahara desert. In good light, the brown neck is clearly visible.

A member of the tiny Swiss population of this species, which has dramatically declined in the last 50 years and almost disappeared from the country. Luckily it is now doing a little better!

This was an exciting find for me, even though supposedly common in the area. However, it was so close and did not feel disturbed by my presence or by the many other people walking by! He kept working its bark as if nothing were. I guess there was a lot of good stuff under it!!
