Seen in Richmond, BC. The western birds - swainsoni - seem quite different that the eastern. Smaller, greener, and sound different as well.

St. Isidore - with water levels still high on lakes, rivers and sewage ponds and field flooding now receding, finding shorebirds has become very challenging. We got lucky with about 60 dunlins along the shore of one pond.

Morrisburg - unless the throat feathers are at the right angle to the sun they appear to be dark brown. Note the extended tongue. Hummers routinely flick their tongues but it can be difficult to capture.
