Merlin in the early morning beside the airport, seen during the Christmas Bird Count. The bird was in virtually the same spot as last year's Merlin! This was a good way to start the count.

On Sanibel Island, in the JN Darling Reserve there was more than shorebirds. The vireo was on one of the walking trails.

On Sanibel Island, the JN Darling Nat. Wildlife Refuge takes up a sizable fraction of the island. The Ding Darling Drive is a great way to see shore birds. The merganser was in one of the larger lagoons.

A rare occasion where the Barred Owl appeared near the boardwalk of the Corkscrew Swamp. He was too close for my 400mm that I was shooting with. I had to switch to the 100-400mm.
