Vankleek Hill - A species that breeds in northern Manitoba, this bird was present in a yard all winter. I failed on two previous attempts to see it so after waiting a couple of hours I was happy to finally spot it. The bird was still moulting but was far along in its progression to breeding plumage. It sang for me for about an hour which in its opening was very similar to an abbreviated White-throated Sparrow song.

Ingleside - This bird was spotted about 10 days ago and has been tough to see but after successive trips I finally had luck today. While some migrate through Northwestern Ontario, only a very few make it further east and south each year. This was our first local bird.

My second Harris's Sparrow in two weeks. This one was more accommodating for photos. This is likely a different bird from the Iona one as it was seen initially at the same time as the other. These are rare on the coast, but strays are reported most winters.
