Brian Morin: This was luck on all counts. I had heard about this particular bird the day before but didn't know where it was until I tripped over it so to speak. The setting was better than I had imagined and the light was perfect. I actually had to back up to get the shot because I was too close.

Constance Bay (Ottawa) - Regionally rare. I saw an adult only briefly but a juvenile came in a few times. The birds nested nearby.

Brian Morin: They were part of a flock of 40+; great to see. One morning after I had left there was a flock of 400+ on the Tip at Pelee. That is highly unusual.

Shrewsbury - A pair of Magpies were building a nest in the cedars. They are well out of range, with the closest territory near the Manitoba border, about 1200 km northwest. Last year a pair, likely the same birds, bred 90 km further east.
