I was out checking a local pond for shorebirds yesterday evening when an adult male Peregrine Falcon decided to check out the pond as well.

This Semipalmated Sandpiper froze in place for over five minutes after the falcon left, gazing skyward.

What I believe is a Semipalmated Sandpiper standing beside a Least Sandpiper - please correct me if I'm wrong as my Sandpiper identification is not the greatest. Vaudreuil Bay, west of Montreal on Sunday July 22, 2012.

Don't know what these are still doing here. I thought I'd seen the last of the shorebirds as I haven't seen them anywhere else, until today. Late migrators maybe. This is one of a pair I ran into today at the beach area in Oka Park.
