Chris: Thanks. The Chestnut-backed is slightly smaller, but more aggressive and appears higher on the pecking order. However, no match for the Junco 😉

The luckiest birding moment of 2021 without a doubt. Mother and father crane had just caught a vole, and fed the young crane in front of us. The Reifel Bird Sanctuary biologist had to keep all visitors back as this spectacle unfolded.

To our surprise a pair of Yellow-rumped Warblers has been visiting the yard. Here, already with insects in its beak and then waiting for the suet feeder to further stock up. Delta, BC
