Brian Morin: That's a good example of how different a juvenile bird can be from its parent. As for species, the clues are in the head. That's a finch/sparrow beak and there is a definite eye ring. The light doesn't show the beak clearly but it does appear to be pinkish. Your bird is a very young Field Sparrow. The adults have no streaking on the upper body.

Brian Morin: I had seen this species a number of years ago but I got my first shots on this trip. At one point it walked right towards us and was just over two metres away.
