A nice Dunlin in breeding plumage. The nice thing in Iceland in summer is that there is light for 24 hours, even though in part of the "night" it gets a little darker. This picture was taken very late in the evening!

Murres (or Guillemots as they are called in Europe) breed in mixed species colonies in Iceland. This picture shows a nice mix with both the spectacled and plain morph of the Common Murre, and two Thick-billed Murres.

Golden Plovers are relatively common in Iceland and they breed in the tundra!

Two male goldfinches surprised at a water hole. this species is appreciated as a cage bird because of its song and beautiful plumage. Because of that, several feral populations have established from escaped individuals far away from their usual range, which is primarily in Europe and Asia, reaching Northern Africa.

The Atlas mountain range somehow marks the limit between the European-like fauna and the African/desert fauna. There it is still possible to find "Europeans" such as this Linnet.
