The African subspecies of the Chaffinch (africana) has a completely blue-gray head. Sometimes it is treated as a separate species.

This is one of the most widespread Passerine species in the world, with a fascinating migration pattern that I was lucky enough to study during my PhD. The Moroccan subspecies seebohmi is sometimes considered to be a separate species. It has a black throat (not so the other subspecies). They breed in the Atlas mountains of North Africa.

Jackdaws are quite common around human settlements. Usually they breed in older buildings.

Great Black-backed Gulls are quite common in the North Sea, and can be seen around every harbour, but also far offshore when foraging!

Not a great picture but this bird is not very easy to see! They are usually hidden in the reeds. I was fortunate enough to see two of them, and I had to take a picture just for the records!!

This species is quite localized and it also took me quite a while to get the picture... it came every time to the same fruit but just for a split second! Interestingly, it was sucking from a little hole it made into the peel!

It is fascinating to watch Egrets on the hunt. They move the water just to attract curious fish and the they snap at it as it gets close!

This species is not very easy to photograph because usually they run away very quickly. They are hunted in Patagonia and this might be the reason for their lack of confidence!
