I took this photo in the Humber River Park near a pond. This photo was at an unique angle to show the face right on to produce a very funny photo. This belted kingdisher was make a call, so the beaks were open.

This is very common little bird in Taiwan and the country of Eastern Asia. They may form a large flock. I saw near 100 birds flying from a tree to the other. Have nice voice and love to eat flowers' pedal in the Spring.

This little bird is very active within the tree, so it is difficult to photo. I saw 4 or 5 of them this morning. Basically the green top and pale underside with yellow near the wing. There were no wing bar over the green upperpart.

This species is a common sight in Taiwan. During most of the year, this egret looks white, similar to the size and color of more common little egret. One the winter is pacing out, the color transfermation took place, appearing the bright red/brown plumage and more red in the beak.

This bird looks like a blue jay but without its major marks: no crest, no white strips/spots. It is a little smaller than a blue jay but bigger than 6 inches of the most song bird size. Its thick and dark beak is a jay or crow like. I found it under the bushes. I clearly saw the blue as the major tone for this bird (thus, ruled out the common crackle). Only possible candidate is the gray jay but feather did not match.

Pacific reef heron or egret. This is a common species found in the coast and river area in Asia and Australia. There are two types, dark and white feather. This one is the dark form with blue and grey/brown feather. Thick beaks and feets is different from most of herons and egrets in the area.

This is another thrush regularly seen in Taiwan. This one is similar to Pale thrush but a white belly and generally lighter brown to distinct from Pale thrush. In the field, it is difficult to tell apart of these 2 species.
