Ottawa - this Arctic rarity was a photographer's dream. I found it in the early morning and by late in the day the local paparazzi had pretty well had their fill, shooting from as close as 7 metres. Note the bill shape, a diagnostic feature.

Cornwall - What a pleasant surprise at lunchtime. This bird poked around at suet and checked out a few feeders for about a minute before heading out. Hopefully it will stick around for the winter.

Cornwall - These young males were putting on a show for the females. The "Jakes" will strut their stuff in the fall to an attentive audience but this is not for breeding purposes. Similar courting displays will take place next spring.
