Near Whitby - This is the second record for Canada. The first was a bird in Toronto in late fall 1993. They are very rare in North America, with only six U.S. records of this South American species. It saved me a trip south :)

It was very very weird looking for a Blue Jay today. Even weirder to hear and see him...brought back memories of the east. Ladner, BC. Note - crest blown back due to the wind.

Presqu'ile Provincial Park - Lake Ontario usually has a few of these coastal birds show up before heading to the Atlantic for the winter. They are often quite approachable. This is the last of the migrant shorebirds for another season.
