Point Pelee National Park - A rare and very frustrating bird to see and even tougher to photograph. It skulks in thickets and seldom appears in the open. It took me 90 minutes to have this opportunity.

Hillman Marsh - Similar to Long-billed. Bill usually shorter and it begins to gently curve downward about one third of the way from the tip. In spring plumage there is spotting rather than barring on the breast near the bend in the wing which is found in Long-billed.
With dowitchers, no two birds are alike with markings.

Hillman Marsh - An annual spring migrant in very low numbers. This year there were about 20, an exceptional number. Long-bills arrive about 7-10 days before Short-bills making identification easier. Females of both species have longer bills. Bill fairly straight without noticeable droop.
