Winchester - I have never been closer to these birds. A flock of 6 were busy foraging on corn stubble near a roadside. They weren't bothered by the car although some took note of the shutter clicks.

Not a great shot, but a great bird. Taken at the Iona Sewage ponds. It was mixed in with hundreds of Scaup so I had to do some cropping to show it.

Amherst Island - and finally, one in the air. The ice was thick and filled in the channel as soon as we passed. Ducks are being restricted to remaining open water on the Great Lakes. Only Lake Ontario still has substantial water but the eastern end is frozen in.
