Morrisburg - A couple of weeks ago I was going to post a Meadowlark shot but it was distant and disappointing so I held off. I'm glad I waited. After years of trying I finally got lucky today with what for me has been a nearly impossible task; capturing this bird at a reasonable distance. This has been one of the toughest birds for me to photograph. It is very different in behaviour from its Western cousin, being very aloof.

Lancaster - While we have a few eagles in the area, photographing one is usually done at a distance so when one came soaring overhead, even on a dull day, it was an opportunity not to be missed.

Ottawa - I had three of these birds today and spent well over an hour trying to get a picture of one. It was very challenging because it was always behind branches. I finally got a few in the open. It was not too far and I was able to do a decent crop. Don't forget, this is a very small bird.

Ottawa - We were wondering if we were ever going to see this species this spring but they seem to have come in over the weekend. Getting somewhat close to this bird is tough in our region so this was a real treat.

Ottawa - After six failed attempts to be present when this bird showed, I was finally successful. It had a schedule which tended to be two to three days on and two to three days off and if you guessed wrong you'd be out of luck that day. Yesterday I guessed right. We worked with the bird for an hour at the end of the day. Each trip is 1 hr 45 minutes so it is a significant time commitment but with a result like this and a bird that you often have to back up from to shoot it was worth it. Onlookers have grown over the winter with up to 70 Saturday. We had about 20 yesterday.
