It was a tough task this year as there were few reports in the park and the birds tended to stay out of sight. On top of that, the light was very bad when this individual was spotted, mainly backlight. I managed to get a couple of opportunities to capture the moment.

It was a beautiful subject. Date uploaded: May 17 2024 Views: 32 Comments (6): Chris: Terrific find and snap!Brian Morin: This bird was well out of my way but I knew it would be worth the trip if I saw it. Fortunately that proved to be true and I clicked away for an hour in multiple terrific settings. Its feeding pattern, darting to and fro faster than you can blink, is incredible. At one point it was catching 2-3 minnows per minute. Great Blue Herons could take lessons.
