Ottawa - this bird has been present for a few weeks. I managed to catch it while it was preening before it swam off to feed.

Ottawa - I watched a pair for about 20 minutes. They were very high and almost always in shadow or behind branches. The female briefly showed enough for a few shots including this one with a moth she dug out from behind some bark.

Massena -I was keeping a watchful eye out for this species today and spotted one not too far from the road and only up about 10 feet.

Ingleside - It begins again. This is my first Snowy of the winter, not one of the few individuals that summered in Ontario. No idea if it will stick around or is heading further south. Others to follow soon we hope.

Ingleside - I know it's only a Red-tail but these guys are notoriously difficult to shoot so any time I get the chance I see what I can get away with. Of course younger birds are easier to deal with than adults but even they can present a challenge.
