BrianMorin: This worked nicely, not having to go into the Rideau Lakes district to find breeding birds.
Chris: Great job.

Chris: Such a striking warbler. Congratulations on this one!
BrianMorin: This guy was a show stopper and as close as two metres at times so too close.

Chris: Now that’s a keeper. I’ve not been able to get close enough for such a shot. Fantastic to see this outcome.
BrianMorin: I encountered four birds over the visit and had a few positive opportunities, one of them quite close, even closer than this, but I liked the reflection. I'll post another later on.

Whip-poor-will (4)

Caprimulgus vociferus

Date taken: May 8 2022

Details: adult

Point Pelee National Park - What a treat to find one along a trail. The bird was heard calling on a few evenings but is a migrant species here. It was perched only 8 inches above the ground.

Date uploaded: May 15 2022

Comments (4):
Chris: Fabulous. Glad you’re out and about at Pelee. Funny, the only one I also had was in the same setting!
BrianMorin: That's great. A day earlier the bird was in the general vicinity, on a bit higher perch but off the trail, with branches in the way, so the result wasn't worth posting.

Bean Goose (2)

📍 Map

Date taken: Dec 20 2021

Details: adult, outside normal range

This lone bird appeared for the very first time at Bhigwan Bird Sanctuary, Western India, in Dec 2021. It hung out with a large flock of Bar-headed geese (who are regular visitors there) and left with them in Jan/Feb 2022. This bird appears to be a Taiga Bean Goose based on the markings on its beak - the URL leads to a PDF download of the comparative identification of the Taiga & Tundra Bean geese / goose. (?) :)

Chris: Superb lighting…great sighting and photo Krish!
BrianMorin: A nice look. We had one in Eastern Ontario last fall but it was only seen at a distance. It spent the winter in the northern U.S.
