Ottawa - I spent a couple of hours on a cold winter morning trying to get shots of a flock near a feeder on a public trail. Numerous branches obscured the birds most of the time but patience delivered in the end.

The origin of this bird is unknown, however I'm going to assume it's an escape or release and place the Domesticated tag on this photo.
He was following a female Wood Duck for the entire time I watched him. He even made CBC News headlines in Vancouver. Either way hundreds of people were lined up to see him put on one of nature's most impressive displays.

Well normally this bird takes the crown for most spectacular plumage. However not today. The Mandarin Duck currently at Burnaby is taking all the attention :)

Toronto - Ontario's Trumpeter Swans, introduced a few decades ago, winter largely on Lake Ontario between Toronto and Hamilton. They are a familiar sight along the waterfront in the winter.
