How lucky I was to come face to face with this Townsend's Warbler. The striking head pattern is unmistakable against the brown backdrop of the spring swamp. Far outside it's normal range, the species makes is 3rd ever appearance in Quebec, at Pointe-Calumet northwest of Montreal.

This was all about timing. The Osprey had just taken 2 dives into a small lake near Hudson, Quebec when it flew right past me.

Ottawa - I thought I was done with Snowy Owl pictures but the birds decided otherwise. Only in migration can you find individuals willing to tolerate each other's presence. The sight of a 'flock' of Snowies is not what most expect to see. There were six birds present in a very tight area, two or three usually together most of the time. At one point four birds within 15 feet of each other.
