Was not able to get decent photos of this species, but at least some key field marks showing. It seemed to behave differently than others and keep well-aawy most of the time. Frutty Tour lodge.

Upon arrival at Quito on the morning of 21Feb (routing was Montreal-Toronto-Bogota-Quito), Freddy picked me up and made the relatively easy drive to Alambi, on the way to Los Bancos and the hotel Mirador Rio Blanco. The Alambi lodge was my first foray into Ecuadorian bird photography.

If only the view this bird has could be captured. The roar of the Rio Blanco hundreds of meters below followed by kilometers of rolling hills and mountains covered in dense tropical cloud forest. Los Bancos
