Having 2 pairs of this species in the same marsh as several Red-winged Blackbirds seems to be causing the Redwings quite a bit of stress. However they generally leave each other alone. Iona regional park, BC, Canada.

Where there were Blue-winged Teal, there were Cinnamon Teal - at least tonight at Iona, Richond, BC. Not a lifer, but a new species to photograph for me.

A strange occurrence - I was carefully photographing a Blue-winged Teal when I heard a distinctive song behind me. After hearing and seeing many Rose-breasted Grosbeaks in Ontario last week, it occurred to me the song might actually be this species, which I've not seen in 28 years. Sure enough, he came out of heavy shrubbery just long enough for a quick snap, then he was gone. Iona regional park, Richmond, BC.

Presqu'ile Provincial Park - I made the lengthy trip hoping to find some of these interesting birds. I had some luck in the afternoon. This is peak time for the Whimbrel flight. Presqu'ile is on the periphery of their migration. Toronto is where most of the flight passes.
