Upper Canada Migratory Bird Sanctuary - Ingleside
This was the best I could do with a species that has been a tough one for me to get. In Montreal and Toronto there are some locations that offer good views but we aren't as fortunate in spotting this uncommon species.

South Lancaster - These birds left the adjacent Cooper Marsh and headed into the nearby field. The young can fly short distances and look for food but won't pass up any morsels the adults present to them. The adult is pretty wet and rather muddy obviously from slogging around in the marsh.

Avonmore - Another car window shot. Even though the day was hot and it was almost noon, shooting in the shade made it possible to get some decent photos.

Amherst Island - Continuing the common summer birds theme, this is a species that will often allow you to pull up in your vehicle and get reasonably good shots. Not all birds 'look good'. We had to try several individuals before we found one we liked. It is also important to select the right background. We sized up options before driving closer because once we stopped, subsequent movement would probably send the bird off.

Burnt Lands Provincial Park - I had the opportunity to revisit this area and got a few more shots of Grasshopper Sparrows very early in the morning. This species has unusual dabs of colour. It has a touch of ketchup on the lores and a splash of mustard on the leading edge of the wing.:)

Interesting to see how the sap attracts prey and the Sapsucker comes back constantly to harvest the ants.
