Details: immature

Presqu'ile Provincial Park - On Gull Island. The walk over was much better than my trip in September. The water was only knee deep instead of waist deep and that was only for about two minutes of the walk. The rest was much shallower. Also the distance across had been shortened by 75%, making for about a five minute crossing.

Brian Morin: I had almost given up on seeing this bird. Others had encountered it when they first arrived but I missed it. As I was leaving, a flock of Dunlin flew in and it was with them. It obligingly walked 3 metres in front of me.

Ahmad Shah: Fabulous shot of one of my favorites.
Brian Morin: I know what you mean about being a favourite. This is what most non-birders think about when they think of sandpipers. I was lucky because a flock of 40 had arrived likely late morning and were working Beach 1. They were easier to work with than the few on Gull Island and clean sand offered an excellent setting.

Ottawa - a small number migrate through the area, mainly in the fall. This time there were 10 at this location which is a large number this far East.

Brian Morin: This was not a target bird for the day but when I was there and heard that some had been seen the day before in the area I checked it out and thankfully the birds were still present. I had put on rubber boots so I could work the shoreline with ease.
