Ingleside - the bird was seen on the St. Lawrence. It is regionally a rare migrant and locally a very rare migrant. It spent much of its time searching for leeches. Unfortunately it was a one-day wonder.

Ingleside - this is my first experience shooting Lincoln's. Other times I didn't get anything. It was a very brief encounter unfortunately.

Cornwall - note the profile of this bird. It holds its tail and wings up unlike other subspecies of Lessers but also unlike most gulls. This is the intermedius subspecies which is considered rare in North America but I had several birds. I think we get a small number of these birds each fall. It also has a darker back than the more frequently seen Lessers. UPDATE: I have been corresponding with three gull experts and while interesting the bird doesn't quite measure up as far as that subspecies goes. Not black enough for one thing. The bottom line, however, it is still a Lesser Black-backed :)

Ingleside - Regionally uncommon and locally even harder to find. This bird was with Lesser Yellowlegs and came towards us, approaching as close as four metres.

Ingleside - This is my first leucistic shorebird of any kind. It sure sticks out.
