Another intricate plumage - the sheen on this dove was something. Delta, BC.

A few of this species have been passing through Delta BC. Such an incredible pattern and colour. It's unfortunate that getting any closer would have flushed the bird and was impossible.

Burns Bog Nature Reserve Delta BC
Since I've been working at home, I go for a walk in the bog most days after work. I always take a camera, but the birds have been scarce. This was my lucky day. The location is about 1 Km from where Chris now resides.

Crysler - A young male; a few snow flurries contrasting with his tropical look. After the record low and snow squalls throughout the day, he must have wondered if he'd made a mistake. :)

Crysler - If you have ever attempted to get pictures of this species you know how frustrating that can be. Well today I hit the jackpot. Shot from my car – almost no crop.

Williamsburg - I was surprised when I found this bird because it was in the same area that I had the female Kestrel a while ago. I wondered if it would be as cooperative as she was and after moving slowly along the road to avoid flushing it I eventually got quite a number of good shots. It was hunting the ditch, ignoring me as well as cars and motorcycles driving by. I watched it for 10 minutes being as close as 6 metres with my car. It didn't care. It eventually caught a small garter snake and flew off into the woods. Cool. This bird was browner than some. I later saw the mate which was a bit rustier in the breast markings.

Lancaster - Our only warbler so far this spring. This bird has likely been present for a few weeks.

Morrisburg - I was unexpectedly back in the area I had this bird the other day so I tried for some shots again. This time It showed better. It has a pleasant musical song often sung late in the day. Although its plumage is unremarkable, the large size, eye ring and white outer tail feathers help to distinguish it.
