BrianMorin: Mine too. One or two had been seen off and on for a couple of weeks but it took me 3 trips to the park with 5 visits to the island before it worked out. In fact, I had given up on the last trip and was going to head back empty handed when I got it.

Presqu'ile Provincial Park - Gull Island This bird was a shocker. While checking a few birds on shore I saw bright orange legs from a distance and thought maybe a turnstone but not this time. We look for them in November but in recent years it has been December and still at best an annual rarity. Incredibly early. The bird is molting into its first winter plumage.

Ahmad Shah: That is an amazing find, beautifully captured. I guess you walked in the water to get there.
BrianMorin: There were two or three birds and they were my target for the trip. They didn't disappoint. The lake is very low with extensive beaches and mudflats. There were two channels separating the point from the island. One was 4-6" deep and the other 1-3" deep. Both were not very wide and easily crossed with either rubber boots or if you slip on sandals, crocs or water shoes. Bare feet is a rough way to go because of the rocks and shells. At least no waders required. Worth the trip for me but it was best early in the day and mid to late afternoon. Only accessible now through mid December (post hunting season) on Sunday, Tuesday and Thursday.

BrianMorin: It was a lucky find. In fact there were three species in the same bush, all feeding on white berries. The other two were Red-eyed and Warbling.

Presqu'ile Provincial Park - A Peregrine flyby set all the shorebirds scrambling. It was unsuccessful and moved on. This is the number one predator of migrating shorebirds, followed by the smaller Merlin. Both appeared that day.
